I started getting into elite dangerous a few months ago. Got my father into it. Fast forward to last night, and we are decked out in Corvettes running roughshod on the high resource site in Sol. Next step is getting my two uncles hooked. Stay frosty Commanders. o7

Been wanting to see Betelgeuse since I started three years ago but only recently got a ship worthy of the journey. This sunrise was massively breathtaking.

Sylvia Rockforth: Resign now for your crimes, and leave the Golconda unmolested, or the blood of CMDRs will be on your hands.

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:29 AM PST

Sylvia Rockforth, CEO of Rockforth Corporation, issued an "apology" yesterday for its part in the galactic-wide blight that destroyed crops on thousands of worlds and risked the lives of billions.

But like any true oligarch, she refused to accept responsibility as Rockforth's CEO, and instead passed blame onto Rockforth's marketing director and various underlings.

"A review of decisions preceding the release of EX7 has resulted in the termination of several Rockforth employee contracts. This includes former marketing director Rex Whitlock. Rex's desire for career progression overcame his common sense, and his dismissal of regulatory practices placed billions of good people in danger."

As the chief executive officer, whatever happens on her watch at Rockforth is ultimately her responsibility. Attempting to shift culpability onto a marketing director is proof of her irresponsibility and corruption. Why would someone essentially in charge of advertising also be in charge of security for Rockforth products and compliance with regulatory standards across the galaxy? This makes no sense.

In addition to whatever civil liability she may have, Rockforth and others should face criminal charges for their part in the poisoning of crops and subsequent blight due to the contamination of the EX7 fertilizer. Even if you accept the lie that Scythe of Panem ultimately perpetrated this crime, and aren't just patsies meant to take the fall for the blight, those responsible for the oversight and security for the fertilizer must be held accountable as well, including the CEO herself.

But of course, we know that she will never face justice, since corruption runs deep within every system under the influence of the superpowers. No doubt she will continue to profit financially and politically from this corruption, and will never answer for her or her company's crimes.

And now comes word that Rockforth may potentially deliver supplies to a newly discovered generation ship, the Golconda, whose inhabitants have been adrift in space for over a thousand years. How can we trust that the foodstuffs, supplies, and other goods (possibly EX7 fertilizer) Rockforth may deliver will not be poisoned or otherwise tainted just as they were before?

And even if these goods are considered safe by 34th century standards, will they be safe for humans whose physiology and immune systems are essentially a thousand years removed from our own in terms of evolution and adaptation? Contact with the people aboard this generation ship may literally kill them, just as contact with European invaders killed millions of indigenous people across the planet Earth during the so-called "Age of Exploration" from the 15th-17th centuries. There are those aboard this vessel that have expressed this very concern, among others.

So, Ms. Rockforth, resign now. But before you do, as your last act as CEO, do the right thing and issue orders for your company to avoid all contact with the Golconda. If you refuse, any CMDRs believed to be operating on behalf of Rockforth in the Upaniklis system now or in the future will be considered kill-on-sight and destroyed accordingly.

    HOTAS4 question regarding cockpit menus

    Posted: 06 Nov 2019 03:55 PM PST

Hey pilots, finally picking this game back up after being gone almost since launch. I've acquired a thrustmaster HOTAS4 in the interim and I've been liking it, I did the tutorial and the default keybinds are FINE for me, but as soon as I get out into the game proper after the tutorial the hat button stops working to navigate the menus, instead turning into headlook controls (it turns the head even if I'm in a menu, which is disorienting to say the least when you exit a menu looking straight up).

Is there a setting or something I accidentally hit, or some way to prevent this from happening? It's not really convenient for me to use a keyboard at the same time as my HOTAS and I'd like to minimize that usage as much as I can. Thank you for your help.
