Flight Assist off is a game changer

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 12:08 PM PDT

After putting about 500 hours into the game and massively engineering my Krait MK2, I decided it was time to join the federal Navy to get myself a Corvette and move to Colonia were I can live the life of a pirate lord. So far I bought the Federal Assault Ship and put some engineering into it and decided to try flying it with flight assist off exclusively and once it clicked in my head, holy shit my combat effectiveness has improved tenfold. Now I'm shredding pythons and anacondas with my railguns and barely getting hit it's awesome

TLDR: flight assist off is a game changer and now that I am comfortable with it I can't go back to flight assist on

Only one star with only one icy planet, 2800ly above galactic plane and nowhere else to go. Now heading to Sag A*. (I should have brought something better than 34 jump-range Krait)

Commanders I found this moon which looks like there’s Geological activity and it has an ice cap. But I can’t land on it. The orbit around the star is ridiculously fast. I can’t seem to catch it. Any tips on how to catch up and land.

The reason I keep coming back to Elite is INARA

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 02:02 AM PDT

Okay, thats a bit of an exaggeration - obviously I enjoy the game. I get pulled into cycles where I just play Elite every spare minute I have for weeks, then wear myself out on the grind and dont come back for a couple of months.

But what pulls me back more often than not is looking through INARA - the Ranks and Reputations in particular. Having medals and ribbons, global rankings and a history of what I have acheived and when gives me a sense of direction and a drive to complete more. Plus, the sense of community is encouraged really well there - posting images and writing logs in character are not things I would usually contemplate but the small rewards you get for participating make it feel worthwhile. I feel like a part of something bigger, a real community inside the game.

I just wanted to give a shout-out to the guys that run INARA, and I would encourage anyone that doesnt know about it to go and check it out.
