I'd like to present, after just over 9000 (really) jumps, my favorite planet yet (image heavy)

I call it Tal-Set-Neferu (or just Neferu).

Neferu is the 3rd planet of Phroea Phoea YG-K d9-4, a 2-billion-year old system located roughly six thousand light years from the bubble in the Sanguinous Rim. The system itself is situated in a lightly-explored section of space, with several picturesque nebulas and star clusters along the way.

The system has five stars- an A class, extremely bright (magnitude 2.88!) with 1.52 solar masses in a tight orbit with a hot K-class star, with a second distant trinary of one dim K and two dim M-class stars. This in itself isn't particularly unusual and the system is also host to a fair number of gas giants and associated moons.

However, the one of interest is AB 3, Neferu, and its moon.

    Some stats, for stat-lovers:

What first caught my eye from this planet was both the enormous mass and the fact that it was a ringed landable, which tend to be pretty picturesque. The planet is seismically active, though has only 16 geological sites strewn across its vast surface. Materials can however be found everywhere in the form of outcrops and meteors, which clearly have rained down upon Neferu's surface by the millions, most likely from the ring itself.

It's really quite incredible to see.

A billion lonely pyramids a billion years forgotten

Landing on Neferu is somewhat challenging for the inexperienced - its 3.2Gs and great size can make the estimation of distances difficult. Smaller, well-tuned ships will find landing on it no problem.

Neferu is, without exaggeration, an SRV driver's paradise. Everywhere one lands the landscape is strange and different; so alien that it defies explanation sometimes. Rolling slaloms of hillsides make way to smooth, rolling plains where an SRV can hit 50 or 60 km/h and powerslide forever without ever worrying about flipping over thanks to the high Gs.

The danger comes from the heights on Neferu, with sudden, glass-smooth drops of 60 or 70 degrees abruptly launching your SRV off a ramp and becoming an extremely fast unguided missile. The rolling fields of 5-10 degrees are much safer, though there's a definite fun challenge in navigating anywhere and simply exploring the endless terrain.

Neferu is also housed in a Green System, all the components for Jumponium easily available for exploration further into the black.

I love this game. I struggle with the social aspect of the game, due to social anxiety. So it is really nice to be able to play solo and still be connected to the community via reddit.

I appreciate seeing a positive community. So well done commanders.

I rarely use my VR, but yesterday I decided to do some deep core mining in VR, and I have to say elite dangerous is absolutely stunning in VR. I already knew this from previous experience, but I think I forgot.

The sense of scale and immersion is amazing
