Community Goals: Medical Supplies for Starport Bombing Survivors - Double-Engineered Module rewards

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 06:03 AM PDT

    Community Goals

Galnet - Medical Supplies Needed for Starport Bombing Survivors

Safeguard Interstellar requires deliveries of medicines to treat casualties from the NMLA's recent terrorist attack.

    CEO Noel Beaumont announced:

"Hundreds of thousands of civilians still require urgent medical attention after being evacuated from the damaged stations. Many have severe caustic burns inflicted by the corrosive enzyme payload of the explosives. We have already exhausted the majority of supplies in nearby systems."

"To reinforce overstretched health services, we request shipments of basic medicines and advanced medicines. These can be delivered to Krylov Ring in the He Bo system, Mackenzie Relay in the Cemiess system, and Davis Terminal in the Duamta system."

Safeguard Interstellar has partnered with Lavigny's Legion to reward pilots and distribute the medicines.

If Tier 1 is reached, the top 75% of participants will receive a permanent Achenar system permit and a fully engineered size 3 class 5 Shield Generator with thermal and kinetic resistance. The module will be placed in storage at Mackenzie Relay in the Cemiess system by the 26th of March 3307.

The joint initiative will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the initiative will end immediately.

To earn rewards, you must sign up as an active participant before handing in basic medicines and advanced medicines at Mackenzie Relay in the Cemiess system. Only commodities handed in after signing up will count toward your personal contribution total.

Be aware that faction-state changes and other disruptive events can negatively impact markets and station services, and could prevent the initiative from running smoothly.

    • System = Cemiess
    • Station = Mackenzie Relay
    • Objective = Basic Medicines, Advanced Medicines
    • Commodity List = Basic Medicines, Advanced Medicines
    • Current / Target = 0 / 96000000
    • Expires = in 7 days

Safeguard Interstellar has partnered with Duamta Gold Creative Corp. to reward pilots and distribute the medicines.

If Tier 1 is reached, the top 75% of participants will receive a permanent Sol system permit and a fully engineered size 3 class 5 overcharged and armoured Power Plant. The module will be placed in storage at Davis Terminal in the Duamta system by the 26th of March 3307.

The joint initiative will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the initiative will end immediately.

    Code in ruined station solved

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 05:49 AM PDT

Hello r/elitedangerous, I am Cmdr Fallen7angel from the 'ruined station code' video. I own the Imperial courier seen in the video, and it is on my mobile phone that the clip was recorded (I didn't have time to install OBS, alright?).

TLDR; The code was created by me as part of a custom story campaign, and was convincing enough for my Wingmate u/powercutters to believe that it was actually in the game, and unfortunately ask the subreddit for help in decoding it.

u/powercutters is a childhood friend of mine IRL, and very recently got elite dangerous during the flash sale a month ago. Excited to have new wingmates, I wanted both his and another of my friend's in-game experience to be as memorable as possible. I have loved elite dangerous for years now, and over my 400+ hours of the game I have only really felt it missing one big thing.

    A player based storyline.

So I got to work. I didn't want my Wing to find the game was as wide as an ocean but just a foot deep, and be turned immediately off the game like so many others before finding it's inherent beauty. Many of the games greatest features are organisations such as the Cannon institute and the fuel rats - completely PLAYER run emergent gameplay. I decided to create something like that for my Wing.

A fully voice-acted storyline within the world of elite dangerous, which would be tailored to my wing's choices. Assuming I executed it well, the rest of the wing wouldn't even realise that it wasn't a game feature. After a while in FL studio, and pouring INARA for suitable star systems for my missions, I sent a teaser video over Facebook of me 'stumbling' across a secret code at a damaged station. My Wing mates believe my larger ships to have been destroyed in the damaged station - they are both very new players, so didn't know what actually happens to the ships. This gave me an excuse to use a smaller entry(ish) level craft so I wouldn't constantly outclass them in their sidewinders.

u/powercutters had just ten hours of total game time playing ED, so I assumed that he would simply solve the code (he enjoys that sort of thing), and at our next Wing session (tonight) I would have the first real mission of the campaign begin (hence the 'first contact' message in the code). This would gradually introduce them to the different playstyles of elite, and by campaign end they would have an idea about which aspects of the game they personally enjoyed the most. I can already tell from the past 24 hours that u/powercutters would make a great explorer or mystery solver.

I certainly wasn't expecting him to post the video on the subreddit, so here is my apology to you all. Seeing his enthusiasm for the decoding and general lore of elite brought a big smile to my face - but I realised that I had to come clean to the rest of you. Lying to my friends? Yeah, I can happily do that, but there is no way I'm going to lie to other elite fans on the internet and get their hopes up about a greater storyline.

Any of you who attempted to find the communication source - I owe you all a Lavian brandy if I ever bump into you in open. And u/powercutters, I hope that your original post shows how friendly the community is to new players, and that the veterans get just as excited as the rest of us when new things are discovered.

In case you think I'm just trying to spread confusion in the community, here is one of the prototype secret communications I hid on YouTube a few days ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjasfbyLz1Y You'll find the voice is very similar to the code reader, and that my cmdr name is mentioned.

Feel free to steal my idea, and write your own custom campaigns in the elite universe for your Wings/squadrons! If frontier allowed player-run mission boards this could really take off, but it is still pretty fun to do without it. And congrats to u/pipnumber5 for working out the Gakutensoku link in the message - It was heavily involved with my storyline.

A 32 bit integer can hold a maximum value of 4,294,967,295. Frontier uses this to store the value of Galaxy Wide Bounty. Today, I broke this value (and integer) for the second time.

Hey Fdev, can we have Gutamaya medium combat ship now?

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 11:37 AM PDT

Feds get the FAS, FGS, and FDS, Alliance gets the Chieftain, Challenger, and Crusader, how about the Empire? Especially since Gutamaya's current range is a little lackluster when it comes to combat. I don't even want a range of three tbh, just the one would do. Make it on par with the FAS and the Chieftain, but with the Gutamaya ethos. Less agility but more forward speed, less hull but more shields, and of course make it sexy. Maybe more firepower than usual. I mean hey, if the makers of the Type 9 could make the Chieftain, then surely Gutamaya could strap more guns on there? Also please follow more closely to the Courier's design rather than the Clipper's, shorter wings means better hardpoint convergence. Thanks, 'preciate it

With love, and a little bit of frustration,

CMDR Dragogatercorn, loyal servant of the Empire

p.s. call it the "Imperial Corsair," that'd be a cool name

I just made triple elite. This is what I would have done differently to get here.

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 09:44 AM PDT

As with many of you, when I saw ED for the first time, I was blown away. It's immersion and beauty pulled me in. Here are the mistakes I feel I made, and how I would do it differently.
    1. Grinded for an Anaconda.
This was a mistake because the grinding was BORING. I hated slogging through courier and trade for this goal. I bought a T7, and sold it as soon as I could to get the conda, only to get blown up in a haz rez. And guess what I had to do? Sell my fleet to make the rebuy.
I should have just ignored the impulse to buy the big ship and focused on gameplay that I enjoyed, and designed a ship for that. This was something I did later.
    2. Wait on getting engineering.
I didn't really know what good they could do to gameplay. When I did discover them, I realized the potential of how they could improve my experience and ship design.
I should have started early with them, and gotten to know the bubble better, and improved my experience sooner, rather than later.
    3. Played in Solo
I game for an escape, and I'm a shy person mostly. I actively chose to avoid the community because I didn't want to get killed for memes. So I plodded along alone. So boring, looking back.
I should have joined a squadron and a discord to get connected with a community. I did so eventually, and have had amazingly fun times.
    4. Sold a ship
I sold ships, only to regret doing so a few jumps later. I build a relationship with my Asp X as we went to the black, unengineered, scanning and mapping systems. I sold that ship, and others, and I miss them.
I should have kept them and forced myself to change my gameplay with those ships, rather than chase someone else's ship dream I read about.

I hope your journey through this game is long and enjoyable. I hope you jump into one of your first ships, buzz around doing fun things with friends, get a screenshot here and there, and dock safely before calling it a day.

    Take care cmdrs! o7
