A wounded Commander has lost his Canine companion.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 04:17 AM PDT

Hello Cmndr's i give you all a staunch salute from the Earth continent Australia o7.

My Name is Cmndr: It's Darth Doody ( Formerly known as Cooterbunns ) tonight I have lost my Canine companion and fellow explorer to the Curse of cancer, Her name was Gem and she was a dog but more than that she was a family member above all.

She has saved my life twice and given us 12 long years of loyalty and happiness, she had earned her status as an equal. She was a happy, people loving, earth wandering soul of peace and love and I believe she deserves to be immortalised in the stars!

if I can build a station or place a beacon for Gem, I would like to do it, even if I have to build a whole station by myself. If there are any frontier developer's reading this ( or anyone that knows how to petition for this perhaps ) don't be shy to hit me up, I would like to investigate this.

Thank you for reading Cmndr's. When you see a twinkle in the distance of space, know that may very well be my Gem watching over your journey.....o7!

Is engineering/unlocking in EDO really that grindy? Some stats.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 07:08 AM PDT

    Basic account stats
    ~80 hours in-game with EDO
    ~700 kills
    ~80 planets visited
    ~130 settlements visited

    Current progress
17/20 bio/genetic thingies. Projected total unlock time is 95 hours.
19/25 cat/classic/multi media thingies. Projected total unlock time is 105 hours.
9/20 opinion polls. Projected total unlock time is 178 hours.
4/15 financial projections. Projected total unlock time is 300 hours.

    And for the grand finale:
1/15 settlement defense plans. Projected total unlock time is 1200 hours. Yes. One thousand and two hundred hours.

Some stats for the casual gamer
Now lets suppose you are a 'casual gamer' and you only get to play 2-3 hours a week. What does this mean for you? Well, it means that you can look forward to unlocking the engineers somewhere in 2031. And then you can start to actually add mods to your weapons and suits.

"But surely there is an alternative?!", I hear you ask. Well, I checked the other communities and the good news is that there is! The best and easiest way is to relog at a Threat3 Irregular Marker. On average it will take 4-5 hours of non-stop relogging to get your 15 SDFs. And after that it is only another ~30 hours of relogging to do the rest.

Yes. Those are currently the options for a casual gamer in ED. Either hope you get to add mods in 2031, or plan the next ten weeks of your game time doing absolutely and literally nothing but logging in and out of a menu. Engineering in EDO isn't grindy or unbalanced.

    It is simply broken.

    The Really Ugly Part
When you go to the bartender to trade the UI shows you how many you can get of each object. This is calculated based on the assumption you can trade with/for everything you have. When you actually try it you find most things cannot be traded. In other words, the obvious solution is even on-screen, but they for some reason shot it in the kneecaps and left the option out.

    So now what? Some suggestions.
    1) Add all objects to the bartender for trade. They already have a relative value, all of them, and the interface already is there.
    2) Add all stuff needed to unlock things as mission rewards.
    3) A long-shot, but worth to ask for: just stop with the asine horse manure already. Allow modifications to be swapped in and out. Connect all 'unlocks' that currently need thingies simply to 'reach local allied status'. That way people can blaze their own trail, do what they enjoy and get rewarded for it.

    And finally:
    4) Never let whomever designed this ever design anything else. And make him unlock all engineers himself, in his own time, before he is eligble for a paycheck. :P

Need a break from the bubble? Hop on the "Glitter Box", located in Cheneti. We depart tomorrow!

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 03:05 PM PDT

The bubble is a tired place, and we aim to help you get outta there. Your new favorite carrier [ The Glitter Box (K7V-96V) ] will be heading out for a few weeks.

We will be jumping this Saturday from 10 am to noon, PDT. Glitter Overwatch will try to get 4 jumps in, putting us about 2000ly from the bubble, heading straight up towards Sag A. It may land slightly above or below the galactic plane, depending on how tipsy or hung over Glitter Command is.

After Saturday, our daily jump timeslot will be between 11:30am and 12:30pm PDT, so please do "dock in the Box" at that time, unless getting stranded is your thing.

Once at Sag A, we will sort out our next destination.

So, get your exploration hat on. Jump, honk, scan, repeat, then sell your data at the box, securing your hard earned credits and stamping your name on new discoveries!
    Bring SRVs!
    Donate Tritium!
Some equipment for mining and surface side adventures are on board at the gift shop!

Until then, Glitter Overwatch signing off. o7

Tip off? Here is a tip. F*ck off.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2021 06:00 AM PDT

Just did 5 tip offs in a row.

All of them bugged, nothing to find on any of the planets.

Yes, I know how to use the compass. Yes, I know what LON and LAT are. Yes, I was at the right places. No, they hadn't expired. Yes, I was within the time frame at the end of the tip offs. Yes, I DSS'd the planets as well. Yes, I got out and explored on my SRV. No, there were no contacts on the panel.

Only one of them had anything at all nearby. It was meant to be a crash site, but instead it was an unrelated mini outpost with a scan point worth 4,226 cr.

If you get a "tip off" do yourself a HUGE favour and go and do literally anything else in the entire galaxy.
