Our “War” with The Thargoids is WRONG

    Posted: 12 Nov 2019 02:02 PM PST

    Hear me out.

Humanity discovers barnacles soon after discovering UAs, UPs. Realizes that barnacles produce meta-alloys and that these alloys fix Techno Plague damage.

Humanity then proceeds to slather their ships and star ports with meta-alloys (encouraged by The Club of course). Then we are surprised that thargoids attack our ships and stations? We just took an alien substance and started using it in everything. Meta Alloys are critical to the Thargoids. Like nectar is to bees. Collecting meta-alloys seems to be their sole purpose. They're behaving no different than honey bees trying to gather nectar. Why do you think so many stations got UA bombed? So those stations would then use "thargoid bait" for repairs (some shadow conglomerate bought massive quantities of Artifacts for this purpose to force more stations to utilize the meta-alloys).

The Guardians failed at communicating with the thargoids because they didn't understand that their sole instincts were to collect meta-alloys and return it to the hive.

They released multiple Galnet articles about the "Far God Cult", those articles are analogous of how humanity is behaving with actual Thargoids, with fear, hatred, and unwarranted slaughter. If we stopped harvesting their alloys and putting it inside our ship modules and stations, they'd probably stop attacking us to get it back.

FDEV have been hinting at this repeatedly. One Galnet article about an operation against the Thargoids; operation Andronicus. Is a reference to Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus, a play about gruesome senseless revenge. We did exactly that.

Palin's megaship, Carson's Spring; a reference to Silent Spring a book about the effects that humanity has on the ecosystem via wanton use of dangerous pesticides.

Giving Thargoids meta-alloys draws in more Thargoids. Why would they take the time to create that interaction if not to show that meta-alloys is what's drawing them in.

This is our sandbox. FDEV created it yes, but what happens within it is up to us. If you want to be turned into fictional sheep by a fictional cabal then continue with the status quo and blindly complete CGs, but if you want to approach things from a more unique position, stop harvesting meta-alloys, stop killing thargoids, and stop aiding random corporations, factions or engineers complete their goals without checking to see if their goals are actually beneficial. You can make credits elsewhere. Don't assist in any further expansion into areas that are Thargoid gathering grounds. Better yet, encourage all three factions to leave these areas.

It might not be too late. Turn your ships weapons on the federation, alliance, empire, and Sirius, for thinking they can pull one over on you.

    /end rant

Elite dangerous is the game I keep coming back to.

Having given up on red dead redemption 2, it's many issues not helped by my old fx6350. So I'm upgrading. I find myself back playing elite.

Elite is an old friend to me. Or its like coming home, back in comfortable, familiar place.

Sure I've played elite solely. However especially in the last couple of years where new content has been sparse. It's great to pause elite knowing I can come back and carry on where I left off. Elite is the backbone of my gaming life. And I think that's one of the reasons it's a special game to me.
