ED Chair update: Most of the frame is done. I've used LOADS more wood and screws than I planned because I keep adding strengthening. I've also prepared a 7.1 sound card, the cup holder and a wireless phone charger (with usb also) to charge while I play. Next is the panels and monitor platform.

Frontier, please make bounty hunting more lucrative.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 01:11 PM PDT

As a an almost 4 year player, I love this game. But with the recent mining rush, and mining only to make any decent money, it becomes difficult. I love bounty hunting, and I love combat. I could probably play this game with just combat alone. I myself, along with many other players would like more opportunities for combat to be more lucrative.

    Things such as:

-Different mission types with more immersion that have extra high payouts. Such as having to track a bounty maybe a couple hundred light years or more rather than one system over. Having to track others down for information on your bounty target. Such as some type of interrogation mechanic. These farther bounties should have extreme payouts (like 100-200 million).

-Being able to wing up with NPCs to hunt groups of bounty targets.

-Overall higher payouts for standard bounty targets.

tl;dr -- simple change --> illegal (prohibited) goods should sell at a premium on the black market and not a discount compared to prevailing prices in legal markets.

It's a minor change but in the spirit of the changes made to the market economy system affecting profits from mining it should be addressed, methinks. Here's the deal: apparently the black market buys goods at ~75% of the price the same goods are going for on the open market. Apparently illegal goods are in the same pricing schema as stolen goods.... when they shouldn't be.

That 25% discount is perfectly reasonable if the goods are stolen but otherwise legal. To use a current day example, a stolen car/TV/computer/whatever sold on the street will be sold for far less than what it can be purchased for from a legitimate dealer. That's why people buy stolen goods (discount); if it didn't sell for less the buyer would simply purchase it from a legitimate seller. Since both thief and vendor have little or no investment in the goods they don't mind selling at a discount since it's still a hefty profit margin.

On the other hand, goods that are illegal are not available from legitimate dealers. They are hard to obtain. But the people who want them really, really want them... whether it's booze, narcotics, explosives, whatever....it's a seller's market. Buyers are willing to pay a premium for them and it's the premium that makes the initial investment (buying in a legal market) and the risks of fines and intervention in getting them to the black market that makes it worthwhile.

Illegal goods should be sold at a premium on the black market, not at a discount. Otherwise it makes more economic sense simply to avoid the risk of fines and sell those goods on the open market in a system where they are legal. Leaving aside any discussion of the slave trade, as it stands now there isn't much incentive to engage in smuggling illegal goods that aren't also stolen (low or zero cost basis) as the smuggler is going to take a loss every time, ven if there are no fines involved. It wouldn't take much of a premium to make it viable -- maybe as little as 25%.

    Public call for help

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 01:00 PM PDT

    Greetings commanders!

I am representing Wallace Corporation, a small squadron that is allied with our in-game player faction Niander Technologies. We are currently at war with a much bigger squadron that seems to be doing their conflict zones in private group /solo. We are extremely outnumbered and just want to hold our home system (we are currently not expanded into any other system), while our opponents are taking system after system and now have 20 systems worth of control.

This is our last ditch effort to save our system from this expanding group. If you would like to help, please do CZs in HIP 95350 for Niander Technologies.

    Fly safe!
