Some might say it's "pointless" or a "waste of time". But who am I to listen to peasants

Bottom 1% of all cruise liners out there… Fly recklessly… Boost though the airlock (and bumping every time)… Listen death metal loudly while flying… Take the most paying passenger groups first… But strangely nobody wants to complain.

While cargo running in the Gilgamesh system i had not one, but TWO deadly rated ANACONDAS chase me. So i waited until i had to return back for the other half of a 5 mil payout load and let them interdict me one at a time. I sank them both with my krait mk2 (engineered shields and thrusters to grade 3 and 4 respectively). I know they were only NPCs.. but im only novice rated in combat!

I missed all community/GalNet stuff before this...

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 01:21 PM PDT

And holy moly am I geeking out. Big love to the SpaceRP folks, for setting up a blockade to keep out enemies of the empire.

This feels like a story straight from good sci-fi, not some cheesy fan-service licensed TV MMO stuff.

This is the kind of gameplay I've dreamt of in my space games. This incredibly vast, and interpretable, and influenceable by players in flexible ways. There's no franchise to give fan-service to that makes little sense. It's this enormous world, bad crap is happening in it right now, and within that, community is banding together to assist in the moment, while the political landscape unravels around. I genuinely felt things when I read GalNet.

I was at SagA when the news dropped - turned towards home and at maximum speed began the return. There was urgency; need. Arriving at the drifting, burning space station is the most epic moment I've experienced in a large-scale sandbox game.

What a time to be a spaceman.

    Torval... is that you?

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 05:03 AM PDT

    TL;DR at the bottom

So, I've been bugging about the whole GalNet thing for a while... and I've come to this conclusion: what if Torval was involved in all of these alleged NMLA attacks on the Empire...? Hear me out, on paper it really makes sense: she's been at the bottom of Powerplay for a long time, she's basically a traditionalist, and absolutely hates Aisling Duval. On top of this, she's been involved in all the business regarding Aisling's father's mental health, and her Powerplay description is that she "Hires private security to keep her distance from some of the darker methods of control used to keep her systems in line", consistent with what we've seen so far... In my mind she's trying to get him out of the way so that he doesn't embarrass the Imperial Family any further, and she may also be involved in Aisling's mother's death (according to codex she died of overdose from narcotics, but popular theory is that she was killed to spare the family any more embarrassment, as she was an addict). IMO, she blew up MacKenzie Relay (orbiting Emerald, Aisling's homeworld) so that Prince Harold could get out of his home in Capitol, a thing he normally doesn't do often (source: Fandom) to visit his daughter and get killed, but also blew up three more insignificant stations so that it wouldn't seem too obvious. Either that or the Emperor's next. Yikes. Also there's music whenever you're on GalNet's article about Harold Duval's murder.

TL;DR: IMO Torval killed Harold Duval because she's a traditionalist who's afraid of him being an embarrassment to the Throne.

NPC Crew should only take half your profit IF you have them inactive.

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 07:45 AM PDT

I appreciate having a fighter pilot on my cutter when I am mining, as it makes me feel safer, but if I am going in a ship without a fighter bay into a asteroid ring, that fighter should not take his 12 percent cut, but rather 6%. But yeah, take your 13 million as I sit in my speed python mining ship.

The idea of them taking a percentage of your income instead of your profit is also really dumb, as sometimes you can gain a net negative if you are going for imp slave trading with a 12% cut fighter. (10000 cost, 11000 profit with a 10% fighter turns into a 100 credit loss, as 11000-1100 equals a net minus.) This is an easy fix to change the income share to a profit share.

TL;DR NPCs taking from income instead of profit which is dumb and also npc crew should take only half his share when inactive.

The true Assassin isn't who you think.

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 12:44 PM PDT

The question on everyone's lips: who murdered Harold Duval?

Some people say it's Zemina Torval, but think; what does she have to gain from it? Harold was a prince, sure, but he was removed from the line of succession. Assassinating him does nothing for her.

In fact, in direct terms, his assassination does nothing for anyone. He was a drunken sideshow with little real importance. All his assassination does is annoy everyone, and turn popular opinion against the NMLA. Even more specifically, it turns Aisling against the NMLA, and potentially against the cause they represent.

    Which is...interesting, isn't it?

The NMLA supposedly want an elected Emperor, rather than a hereditary role for the title. Aisling isn't directly in line for succession with hereditary rules, but is enormously popular with the common people of the Empire; if a more democratic system were inacted, she'd be high on the list to be future Empress, and would probably be the most likely to support democratic ideals, based on her liberal beliefs she's displayed in the past.

Why would they make a move so seemingly at odds with their main purpose? Who benefits from such a thing?

It could be a plot by the Federation. By creating this internal strife they could potentially weaken the Empire, and they're one of the few parties that could supply the terrorists with the Thargoid-derived weapons needed to carry out the attack. But that's based on a huge assumption; that they won't get caught. But how could they ever assume that AND use thargoid weapons, which will immediately lead back to them?

It could just be a bad plan. That's certainly what some will think, especially after failed unilateral action by Federation Admirals in the past, like the Onionhead incident.

    Or.

Imagine, for a moment, that there is a faction in the current Empire, with traditional values and a desire for a popular war against the Federation. However, they know that such a war would never be popular, especially not with resistance from the more subtle Torval or the liberal Aisling. A party who is also being threatened by the liberal values of Aisling paired with her enormous popularity. A party who is willing to do anything to preserve their power.

This party plotted the entire thing, posing as the Federation, with the full intent that the eventual 'Federation' involvement will be revealed in due time.

Even worse, a Federation involvement with the Marlinists! Calling the entire movement into question! Are they sincere believers in their ideology? Or are they simply another plot by the Federation to weaken the Empire from within? Nobody will ever be able to know! But popular sentiment will flood behind retaliation against the Feds, and everyone knows what will happen then, especially with the disbanding of the arms restriction treaties prior to the Second Thargoid War!

In a single move this party have achieved their primary goal - a popular war with the Federation - as well as weaken the rumblings of democracy, and turned what was a strong enemy of the traditionalists into a potential ally! With Aisling's relationship with the Marlinists poisoned, at worst she'll be chilled towards their movement, and at best she'll be actively radicalized into a more traditional politician.

That's why the true murderer, the true plotter of the deaths of tens of thousands of loyal Imperial Citizens, the true monster that's been before us all along...

Is no less than the Empress Herself, Arissa Lavigny-Duval.

    The Long Road Home

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 11:17 AM PDT

I just returned to the bubble from my first trip to Colonia. 63 light years at a time. I did not use a single neutron star.

    I finally reached double Elite.

I still have A Hard Road Ahead for the combat Elite rank. after selling all of my exploration data. I am still just short of a billion credits.

I have just over 2 billion in assets. I have 3 weeks and 21 hours of gameplay.

The trip took a long time but I learned a lot.

Me and my ship the dirty muffin are glad to be home.

I give special thanks to my ship the dirty muffin. she got me all the way home and her integrity was still at 88%.

I think that's amazing after such a long trip home.

    07 commanders and stay salty.
