    Back when I first started playing last November I disliked the combat aspect of this game and I really enjoyed the powerplay and level of exploration in the game. Since covid hit I've had more time to play games now that I'm working from home, and I finally noticed a major shift in what I enjoy doing in this game. I've discovered mining and how profitable it can be, and after buying one of the big four I've noticed I greatly enjoy the heat of battle and have become pretty bloodthirsty when it comes to pirating and interactions in unknown signal sources. Any chance I get I'll submit to a pirate and absolutely annihilate them. When I first started I was really hesitant about combat because I was super worried about losing a lot of money, but after acquiring a small fortune of credits I feel free to really enjoy all the aspects of this game.

    Decided to try to orbit my first black hole. It was hard to visually track and orbit without hitting the exclusion zone. Made me dizzy. Here is what it looks like from the cockpit. This one is in the NGC 7822 complex.

    Being sent to jail for small bounties is ridiculous. I was half paying attention and jumped to a science facility with a similar sounding name to the station I meant to go to. They were under attack and sent out a distress call so I started going after the attackers.

    During the fight a stray round hit the station and I received a 600 credit bounty. Overall it was a great fight only slightly marred by the stations defense force, who I had just bravely fought alongside, lighting me up as soon as the attackers were dealt with. I made it out of there with my ship intact but just barely.

    So now I've got to settle the bounty. I'd been sent to jail once before (after waiting 2 hours to even have the privilege of paying the damn bounty) and didn't want to repeat the experience. It's 272ly back to the system and the ship transfers take 50 minutes each way and it costs over 2 million credit to move my FDL. So I look up the nearest Interstellar Factor and it's 238ly away! I'm screwed either way.

    Why would anyone think that this is an acceptable solution to dealing with minor, accidental damage to an NPC station or ship? While we're at it why are a dozen NPC ships trying to murder me over a minor infraction after defending their station?

    There really needs to be a much higher threshold for NPC agro, notoriety point gains, and being sent to jail. Nobody making small mistakes with NPCs should have to deal with these crazy time sinks. I'll pay the damn fines, hell, double them if you want to. Just stop wasting my time.
