    Unlocking engineers = spiraling down the moral event horizon?

    Anyone get the impression that the grind to unlock engineers is, in a way, a social experiment to see just how far you as a player are willing to go in pursuit of The Ultimate Build?

    You need to rep up with one engineer to unlock another. They start out innocently enough — bring me some meta alloys (good way to incentivize players to venture out into Thargoid territory for the first time before fleet carriers set up shop in Deciat selling it there), mine me some painite. But eventually, you start being called to do shadier and shadier stuff.

    Deliver landmines to an associate of the "Blue Mafia?" Don't think too hard about what she wants them for...

    Do I really want a known collaborator with The Club poking around in my ship's life support system to squeeze out another 0.4 LY jump range?

    All culminating in seeing if you're willing to help fill Etienne Dorn's gimp closet... wtf does he want 25 occupied escape pods for, and how many CMDRs have been willing to give them to him?

    Just something that occurred to me.
