I should have known that 848,000 credits for 6 power generators was too good of a contract and it wouldn't be so bad for any other ship but I'm flying there in my FedEx Delivery Dropship.

Please call the Coast Guard, I do not believe I have enough provisions aboard to complete the journey without eating one of the generators.

    Colonia Connection Compromised

    Posted: 24 Nov 2020 09:28 AM PST

The Colonia Connection base of Eagle's Landing has today been overrun by anarchist forces. All ships are advised to steer clear of the Eagle Sector. This report is brought to you by GalNot News, currently on the run from GalNet's lawyers. If you're receiving this, we're probably not dead yet.

Located in the Eagle Nebula roughly seven thousand lightyears from inhabited space, Eagle's Landingwas among the first of the Colonia Connection bases, constructed in 3302 to support supply and passenger ships between the bubble and Colonia. In 3303, rumors began to circulate of large quantities of cheap mined goods being exported along the Connection to corporate buyers at both ends. Following our last report, we can now confirm that these goods were the product of a major mining operation being conducted at a clandestine prison facility within the Eagle Nebula, hidden within an asteroid.

Three months ago amid rising tensions and multiple security failures, the inmates seized control of the prison. After a failed attempt to retake the prison, it appears the base was largely abandoned by the unknown group responsible for its construction. However, the vast majority of prisoners remained stranded in the nebula, due to the lack of infrastructure needed to transport large numbers of people covertly over the thousands of light-years back to inhabited space.

However, it now appears that the inmates have spent the last months preparing for a haphazard assault on Eagle's Landing, using improvised equipment and captured short-range transport ships. While better equipped, security forces at the base were overwhelmed by the horde of prisoners, forcing a retreat and leaving the base under the control of the Eagle Sector Inmates.

Two of the cargo megaships that travel along the Connection, a Henry-Class and a Hercules-Class, were present at the time of the attack and have been captured by the inmates. The remaining security forces are currently engaged in battle in an attempt to stop these megaships from leaving the system, but it appears unlikely they will succeed.

It is now expected that there will be a large exodus of prisoners to both the bubble and the possible safe haven of Colonia, using the captured megaships and long-range vessels from Eagle's Landing. Wherever these prisoners truly originated from, it remains to be seen if they are all as innocent as they claim, or if this marks the start of a new wave of criminal activity.

    GalNot News, signing off.

This is a follow-up to our last post, about the prison break itself. With this, the entire Eagle Nebula, and one of the original Colonia Connection bases, are now fully under anarchist control. So we're done for now.

Thankfully it was much less of a grind now that we had control of the prison system, as we were able to import bounties from there rather than do 14,000LY passenger missions (and yes, you can bounty hunt in anarchy systems. It's just very slow). We then triggered a Lockdown at Eagle's Landing, completely isolating the system from random traffic and allowing us to take control.

In our last post, I also talked about the death of GalNet, and then felt a little bit silly when it returned about three weeks later. All I can say is that it was worth the wait. The new approach to GalNet has been great all around, both in the narratives themselves and how they're integrated into the game through community goals, local news, and existing mechanics like megaships and station attacks. Even as I'm writing this, another GalNet has gone up namedropping Core Dynamics and another Rochester, right as the Starship One incident is rearing its head again. The galaxy is moving again, and it's headed in an interesting direction. So...thanks, Frontier. We appreciate it.
