    You should be able to land your fighter at stations that don't have large landing pads so you can pick up/finish missions. Change my mind.

    I never played the original Elite but for 26 years I've been looking for something that gives me that same space SIM kick I used to love in the privateer series. Found these during a recent clear up. I wish I'd found ED before this year! - who else is late to the game but loving it? o7

    I first met thargoids by dropping near non-human sources and quickly ran away, as three rounds with tentacles were definitely interested in my destruction. End of series, you may go.

    But that wasn't actually a full experience, as I understood lately. My real experience was more movie-like, kind of, "oh my God, a shipwreck, gonna help, oh shit, what was that sound?" and then you get you head bitten off.

    I was doing a rescue work near Deciat, by breaking into ship and collecting escape pods. Info in right top corner said, that some of other rescue ships should be protected, but since no thargoid was around, I simply continued to gather the pods.

    That is when my ship just turned off completely and wasn't responding to any commands. I genuinely panicked, because that have never happened to me through the month I've been playing (I'm relatively new here). There wasn't any sound or screeching, or something, that would say "oh, hello there, stripped down for exploration ASP, I'm gonna hurt you". When my ship came back alive, I saw on the radar the dot with kinda circle around it. I turned to it and saw those tentacles again. That freaking space Squidward was scanning rescue ships and what my dumbass decided to do? Yes, to go take a shot on freaking interceptor or what that green mother of goo ship was. With two lasers. And 3a shield. With one booster. Because from Deciat I was supposed to fly out of the Bubble for exploring.

    I genuinely believe that it was my curiosity and not stupidity to fire one shot at it. Cos I wanted to see if there would be any big response. And it was as big, as yo mama's capital ship...

    One shot. The thing turned to me. Awful screeching. Ship stopped responding. Then got back online. IT shot some strange things at me, like rockets or confetti, but with deadly touch. That's when I hit the thrusters like never before. And IT followed. God on green, or not green, Earth, how it followed. While panicking and hitting half right, half wrong buttons, I thought I got away, but it was still chasing me. I hit supercruise. Cargo scoop open. Closed it, hit the "turbo", trying to get away, disruptive mass (that tentacles are biiig), hit speed again, while maneuvering, got into mass lock of the damaged ship, took a lot of damage myself. Shield? Went off after 10 seconds. I was taking constant damage. 90%, 80%,45%, 37%, 24%, no flex tape could help me... And all I was thinking about were the escape pods I'm gonna lose, if that piece of human-eating space flower shoots me down. Not in the money way, but kinda "those are escape pods with people, I MUST get away" thoughts.

    Finally, I managed to get my shit together, thrusted the shit out of my ship and jumped to another system. I safely returned to Deciat and repaired myself. Why did I even tried to go into supercruise at the first place... Well, I know, that it is not the biggest thargoid ever, but, since everything seemed so creepy and cinematic, I supposed I can share with you my experience and thoughts.     It's a pretty huge update with lots of options .. and yes, you can change the standard blue/purple/white :) (by far the most popular request since the beginning).

    I've already answered lots of Frequently Asked Questions in the previous version, but here's a few more:

    • Can I make my own colours?

    I've set up the shader files so they're ready for customisation. Unfortunately we don't have a GUI/colour-picker yet, and probably won't until after Odyssey. But in the meantime I'll create a spreadsheet that lists all the locations within the shader files where you can add Red, Green, Blue values. However, it's not easy like the XML method, and over the next few weeks I'll put together a step-by-step video to explain how it's done

    • Are FDev ok with this?

    Yes, FDev have been fine with all the previous versions, so long as we don't mod anything ARX related or provide an advantage over other players. EDHM has also been on the official forums for a long time now, and Old Duck's Immersion mod (using the same modding software) has been going strong since the beginning of 2020.

    • Can I use this on PlayStation or Xbox?

    I wish there was a way, but unfortunately not. I'm hoping EDHM will be widely shared and inspire FDev to create custom ARX HUDs for everyone.

    • Can I make a request to...?

    I need to take a break from modding for a little while. Since June I've spent over 1000 hours on this project and also have a thesis to write by early next year. So I'm happy to take suggestions but won't be doing any further development until Odyssey.

    • Do you realise Odyssey could break the mod?

    Yes, I just hope it doesn't kill it completely. So, like everything in life, enjoy it while we can :)
