    This is the weirdest mission I saw as a Chinese player. In case you don't know, in the Chinese novel Journey to the West, Xuan Zang (Also known as Tang Sanzang) was the master of the Monkey King, whose name is WuKong. Now I got an assassination mission from Xuan Zang to kill the Monkey King lol

    I got a new GPU!

    I've been playing elite for a few weeks (10 hours a day or so) with integrated graphics. Like 20fps, very low settings and a lot of crashes.

    Today I got my 5700XT and when I started the game and got into my ship I started to cry. I couldn't hold the happiness. The game looks SOOOO AMAZING, so epic that tears started to flow through my face...

    Now I want you to take a look at this rock:

    Pretty big, right? I think it is.

    I found it.

    This rock is in Skaude. It's big, probably the biggest rock I had ever seen. I rolled it around, stared at it for a while, thought about how big it was and figured that would be the end of it.

    Until I found this rock a few years later, in Byua Eurk:

    Going back to where we started, before all this, I was a Bounty Hunter. I wasn't even thinking about big rocks. I was thinking about big wanted ships. But here, in this span of three years, I had seen the biggest rocks of my life. I couldn't shake this feeling that something was going on. I would stay up at night, thinking about rock sizes, fantasizing about being the Commander who knows where the big rocks are.

    And of course, the biggest question of all: "What is the biggest rock?"

    But how do you find the biggest rock? You go places and ask. It isn't easy. Most local factions will lie or misinterpret the size of a rock they have seen. When I was in Colonia there was a Commander who was about to show me a rock that, he said, was so big I thought it would be a Type 9. And when we got there, it wasn't that big.

    And he said through his translator: "I thought it would be bigger..."

    "I thought it would be bigger..."

    The Commander was an idiot.

    I have a joke that I like to tell: "Which is the only rock that is bigger than the rock you're telling someone about? It's the rock someone is telling you about!"

    Now, I'm going to tell you that just last year, my Squadron and I found the biggest rock in the galaxy. I can't show it to you yet and I promise you will see it someday, but I'm here to tell you that soon, as big as that rock is, it won't matter. I am going to show you where, in the future, we will find the biggest rocks in the Universe: Witchspace. If we're going out into space and find a rock that is bigger than the biggest rock in the Milky Way and we bring that rock back to the Milky Way, it will be the biggest rock in the Milky Way.

    And this isn't science fiction. I'm working with Engineers right now, who know how to do this. I can't tell you who they are, so far all I can tell you is that there is no need for you to keep looking for big rocks, since I have already found the biggest rock in the galaxy.

    And even if you find that one, I will bring a bigger one from Witchspace, so I will still always be the person who has found the biggest rock in the Milky Way.

    Temper your expectations for Odyssey

    So many in this sub have very... unreal expectations. I feel like what we've seen so far is exactly what we're going to get. Elite + Space FPS. Now. Before you think I'm being doom and gloom, I think this is a great sign, and explains lack of updates. Odyssey opens up a LOT of possibilities that we're excited for, but Odyssey itself won't be it. It's just the beginning. I remember a few years back when FDev said they weren't even sure the engine could do FPS. Well. Looks like they found out, and it was worth 2 years of serious development for them to pursue it. My take is this: a lot of features that need fixes/overhauls were put on hold because there was no sense refining them til after Odyssey. I think the press/marketing for this DLC says that this is a big moment for Elite as a product. I just don't think it's going to be as big as some of us would like to think. Not right out of the gate anyway.

    I am not a fuel rat, however after this experience I respect them ever more for how much work these rescues are.

    Those being game issues, working with the other commander and getting where you need to be for the rescue.

    A fellow commander had run out of fuel, luckily very close to a station giving me a clear approximate destination.

    As soon as he reported being out of fuel, I had him log off so I could travel to the station. It was a 22ly jump so it took about a minute in my anaconda after grabbing limpets and a refuel controller.

    Once I was winthin 30ls of the station I had the CMDR log on, I invited to wing and had him switch on the beacon, Issue is it took a solid minute to get a lock on the beacon (probably due to game lag and instancing) after that I was able to hop into his instance and get him fuel with about 2:30 of air to spare.

    It was great hearing the sound of his engines and systems restarting, and also nice to know that I was able to save him the few million in rebuy cost.
