Devs: PLEASE allow raw materials as mission rewards Posted: 26 Feb 2021 08:23 AM PST I hate mining. I don't know why. I just do. And now I don't do it out of principle in proper game design. I get the great thing about engineering is that it makes you do stuff you may not be inclined to do --thereby driving play diversity. But the pervasiveness of mining to optimize engineered builds means you can't shortcut it like you can bounty hunting or trading, which is only really required to do a little to unlock certain engineers. Entire engineering threads are mining-dependent. That is not true for trading or combat. The easy fix, which is already in for data and mfg materials, is to allow access to raw materials as mission rewards. This is so obvious. Anyone know why it's not in place yet? [link] [comments]

Odyssey planets - is it all sand? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:02 AM PST I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 12:24 PM PST Everyone, go pick up your FSD from Luyten's Star system if you participated in the CG. If you didn't, you can still pick it up at all human tech brokers! This thing is better than any other 5A FSD I've ever had. The jump range I listed was on my DBX fitted for exploration and fuel ratting. Edit: And even if you participated in the CG and got given one, you can still go to a human tech broker and craft another one. The requirements are - 10 Data Wake Exceptions 10 Tellurium 10 Electrochemical Arrays 12 Chemical Processors [link] [comments]

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Q&A - Weapons Posted: 26 Feb 2021 04:38 AM PST
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:32 AM PST There are two capital ships in the Sirius system right now. The one i'm looking at is the Fed Air Force 1. During the War for Lugh's Independence, we had a week to win our CGs before the FNS Nevermore would come down and join the first Farragut and win the war for the Feds. In the middle of that week, i went up about 100 light years to see where the Nevermore was, according to the galnet article. I took a picture of it, posted it in the relevant thread, sitting right next to the station. Some madlad went up, positioned himself between the cap ship and the station, shot the ship, and dodged. The shots hit the station, which opened fire on the capship. The capship returned fire. This was recorded and posted in the thread, and the capship health dropped to 20% over a period of hours before FDev had to reset the server. Edit: This resulted in CSG earning another week of time in order to complete our goals as the Nevermore needed a week to repair and get ready. What narrative change would we get if someone recorded a squadron of commanders driving off both cap ships? Alternatively, what if someone managed to start a firefight between the cap ships and the sirius ships? [link] [comments]
