Community Goal: Torval Mining Ltd Requests Resources - Engineered Mining Laser amongst rewards

    Posted: 21 Oct 2021 08:39 AM PDT

    Community Goals/r/EliteCGCGs on Inara

Senator Zemina Torval's new corporation requires deliveries of commodities to its megaship in the EGM 559 system.

Constantia Torval, the senator's daughter and operations director of the company, provided details of the initiative:

"Now that we are a fully independent business, additional resources are urgently needed to continue providing services to the Empire. My goal is to ensure that the Torval name remains synonymous with efficiency and dedication."

"Shipments of geological equipment, microbial furnaces and mineral extractors can be delivered to the megaship Pride of Bitterwood in the EGM 559 system. From there, they will be transferred to our headquarters at Torval Orbital in LTT 198."

The Pride of Bitterwood is part of a corporate fleet recently purchased by Torval Mining Ltd. Most are currently in the LTT 198 system being outfitted for mining and transport operations. Business analysts believe that these megaships were funded by Zemina Torval after selling the majority of her shares in Mastopolos Mining.

Should Tier 1 of this delivery initiative be reached, the top 25% of contributors will receive a fully engineered class 1 rating D mining laser with long range. The module will be placed in storage at the Pride of Bitterwood in the EGM 559 system by Friday the 29th of October 3307. Should Tier 2 be reached, the top 50% will receive the module. Should Tier 3 be reached, the top 75% will receive the module.

For each tier reached, all Torval Mining Ltd megaships will provide a 10% reduction on all available mining modules up to a maximum of 50%. This discount will start on Friday the 29th of October 3307 and last for the next four weeks.

Should Tier 3 be reached, Torval Mining Ltd will deploy technology brokers to its megaships who will uniquely stock the engineered mining laser.

The campaign begins on the 21st of October 3307 and will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.

    I raided a settlement.

I only did it because the first guard i saw scanned me and I forgot I had an e breach on me. That ruined the mission as I couldn't raise the alarm. So i turned the power off, killed everyone, turned power back on, stole everything, vented the buildings and turned power back off and stole the power reg...am i evil? I wonder if its still abandoned now.

How fast is a fast ship?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2021 11:49 AM PDT

Hi :) I'm fairly new to this and wanna do the Han Solo thing, so, mostly running around doing some light crime, and so I want a Millenium Falcon-style ship that's not overly big, tough, or hard-hitting, but can run away from basically anything, which in ED terms means I want to be able to boost away from most threats and high wake out.

Right now I've got a mostly A-rated cobra that's lightly engineered (still figuring out how engineering works tbh) and gets to about 460m/s normal and 510 boost - as I understand it that's faster than pretty much anything that's not engineered, but a lot slower than the max with engineering?

So my question is, how fast does a ship have to be to be considered "fast" and outrun the majority of other ships, player or NPC? I know there's always gonna be faster ships but I'd like to have something that's quick enough to be reasonably confident of getting away from a threat before exploding.

Best and safest place to sell exploration data?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2021 03:04 AM PDT

I've been out in the black for months (Bubble > Colonia > SagA > Beagle Point > making my way down the Sagittarius-Carina Arm back to the Bubble). I'm a bit nervous about all the exploration data, would rather not sell it to the DSSA carriers to maximize profits. So I have 2 questions:

    1. As I approach the Bubble (in solo mode of course), is there a risk of getting interdicted by Thargoids and getting killed? Are there areas to avoid?
    2. Where is the best place to sell exploration data? Is it true that factions focusing on expansion pay more? Or should I sell a good chunk to engineers to improve reputation? Anything else to be aware of?

What is the difference between Piracy and just being a jerk?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2021 01:17 PM PDT

The wiki seems to suggest that piracy is attacking ships for cargo. But what if your motives are political and not economic? For instance if you pirate a ship caring goods for a super power but don't pick up those goods when they drop them. Is that fair role playing? Or is that just being mean?
