Just a short video I made. I feel like such a badass with my Chieftain in Asterope, fighting alongside other commanders. Not everything goes as planned though :(

Killed my first Interceptor in solo, so proud. And always turn on public repair service when you park your carrier in a AX-System!

Today I killed my first Interceptor in solo. Thanks to AXI for excelent material in their wiki.

And please: if you park your carrier in an AX-Sector, turn repair service on or turn public landing off. Thanks.

Killed the goid and got out of the fight with 50% hull. Suddenly start loosing hull. even bringing the temperature above 150% will not stop it. Panik! Turn on FSD and go for the next available carrier with public landing.

CMDR Artesar nearly killed my by wasting my time.

Just made it to FAR OUT. This time lady luck was on my side. Thanks to CMDR EJB2. Without you i wouldn't made it home today. O7

Fleet Carrier Raccoon City is directly above an active thargoid planetary site, in system HIP 18909 planet A4 E A. In my FC shop you can purchase* everything you need to activate the thargoid machine (have your camera ready!)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nALeoHAT60U

This system is about 130ish LY away from Asterope, where they have AX CZs and lots of players who will help with xeno combat if anyone wants to try those out. To say that AX CZs been rare lately would be an understatement, enjoy them while they last!

For those that are new, Thargoids come in 3 sizes:

Small - ground based flying bugs near thargoid bases. Are not hostile unless attacked, very weak to SRV turret. These you will encounter while activating the thargoid site. Weakest enemies in the game, and by a fair margin.

Medium - 'Scouts', fastest opponent in the game with it's herky-jerky flight patterns. They will shoot you on sight. 4 large AX turrets + decontamination and repair limpets makes small groups of these fairly easy to solo. Even with AX weaponry, these guys are no joke. Very doable, but not casually.

Large - 'Interceptors', lots and lots (and lots) of running away required to deal with them, not so much my thing but it's about all these guys do (ax discord): https://discord.gg/bqmDxdm

*cost to activate the machine = 7M (1 probe + 1 sensor, the link is inside of the base). The cost is high to prevent hoarding. To help defray some of the cost, I have some precious metals in my shop that can be bought then sold elsewhere at very high profits, and I'm also buying meta alloys for 200,000 each. These can be farmed (along with SELENIUM) from objects near the site. I don't need them, I don't want them and I'll be paying someone else to offload them. But I didn't want money to be a barrier to anyone who wants to experience this content this weekend.

    Happy Halloween everyone!!!

    Odyssey provides some awesome moments

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 11:51 AM PDT

Last night I was in Maya doing some planetary missions. Clearing out criminals from a settlement seemed like an easy job.

When I got there I found the place already at high alarm, and saw the counter for personnel ticking down as something was killing these criminals for me.

After some scouting I found out I wasn't the only CMDR at this base — and he was taking out the good guys who were helping me take out the bad guys. For some odd instancing reason, half the NPCs were bounty targets and the other half weren't, leading to some pretty cool firefights. The other CMDR was a pro and was sniping NPCs like mad.

After a game of cat and mouse, I finally found and scanned the CMDR. He had a bounty. A brief firefight ensued until I finally snuck up on him. Bang. Dead, and I was 640,000CR richer.

It felt amazing to finally take on another CMDR! And then I stepped outside and got mowed down by criminals.

Moral of the story: Don't assume that the base is safe because the highly dangerous criminal is dead.

Most fun I've ever had in Elite!

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 04:15 AM PDT

I will never forget the day I saved my Wingmates from an unexpected pirate attack.

So, we were heading to an outpost in the Chup Kamui system to recieve some mission rewards from massacre missions completed by our Wing's leader. Me in a Cobra, our Wing leader in his Sidewinder, and our other wingmate in an Eagle they just bought so they would be able to dock at the outpost.

I arrived first, as using the Supercruise assist trick I learned from this video. But while I was waiting for the other two to arrive, the Wingmate in the Eagle got jumped by pirates.

Our Wing leader was desperately trying to save him by ramming the pirates since he had no weapons on his Sidewinder, which was effective in damaging them, but not good for his ship.

I asked them if they needed help, and they both answered yes, so I launched my Cobra MK III, named Noxious, and flew around the outpost to align with their Wing signal, all the while having the familiar roar of my ship's powerful engine engulf the cockpit.

After 10 seconds of waiting in Supercruise, I finally jumped in.

All pips to weapons, they were Viper MK III's, unleash hell with the beams and multi's.

In the midst of blowing the first one into space dust, the system authority vessels arrived, and, by pure coincidence, they were also Vipers, and this time, they contributed to the destruction of the second pirate.

After that we all had a laugh and tried to figure out why those pirates would interdict a ship with no cargo on board.

This was probably the most fun I have ever experienced in my 300 hours logged. I encourage all of you to go and find some friends to play with!

Did I just softlocked myself with escape pods?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 08:48 AM PDT

Ok so, I was on a trip to colonia, making a stop at each station on the colonia connection.

Upon docking at Eagle Sector IR-W d1-117, there was a megaship and I went to see the escape pods that they just added, you can probably see where this is going.

You see? I have this muscle memory thing with odyssey where when I interact with the elevators, I press the keys for Interact and spacebar very quickly and, ok... it doesn't matter, the thing is, it yeeted my commander 2760ly away back to the Lagoon Nebula in less than 10 seconds (explain this lore masters...)

    yeah im dumb

Just transfer your ship back! Yeah I wish I could...my current system (Lagoon Sector NI-S b4-10) only has 2 stations and both don't have shipyards, Apex will only do travels between those 2 stations.

So Im basically stuck... Or I am? is there anything I can do to free myself?

I always restarted the game after setting the new settings.

Drivers are up to date, Windows 10 64 Bit up to date, Elite graphic folder completely new, threaded optimization on, hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in the Windows 10 Graphics settings enabled.

Signal source threat levels seem super out of proportion, or is it just me?

    Posted: 30 Oct 2021 07:40 AM PDT

I recently got into the combat side of Elite, and while I'm absolutely awful at it I have a lot of fun and my ship manages to carry me through lower-level encounters. So I decided to take some black box missions which normally I wouldn't touch because I would have been shot down. Threat level 1 missions were always pretty easy. You show up, get one or at the most two NPCs in an Eagle or something. Engineered multicannons deal with them easily, without even needing to break out a missile rack.

But level 2? Oh man, the jump up in skill required for it is insane. I thought I might get a Cobra rated Mostly Harmless at the most, but instead four dudes in ships that I barely even saw, they were moving so fast, jumped in on me and immediately ripped through my shields and got my hull down to 50% before I jumped out of there. I don't get it. Am I doing something wrong that I'm suddenly this awful at combat?
