    OK, so I messed up and took too long to dock, noob error, I know. It killed my Cutter with 504 tons of Tritium on board. Rebuy was a bit painful, but not as bad as having to do the cargo run once again.

    So, a bit miffed at myself after the second run (docked fine this time) I decide to go for a walk onto the concourse. Been a while so I thought I would see if anything new or maybe better FPS. The very first person I see is offering an illegal assassination mission right in the public area to someone they obviously don't know.

    Not sure why but this pissed me off even more than my own stupidity! Where are the damn cops?! I mean I get blown to hell for basically a parking violation and this woman just stands there offering good pay for hits on people.... argh.

    Made my first billion last night with the Player's Trade Network during their monthly booze cruise! You can see the galactic plane far below me - we were at Rackham's peak, "highest" reachable point, accessible only by Fleet Carrier!     I've Been Thinking About How to Improve Passenger Missions

    Right now, passenger missions in ED are the unloved triplet with cargo hauling and mining each seeing decent updates in recent years. Right now, trading and mining each have an easy and advanced way to go about making money, commanders can take contracts which guarantee a profit or they can gamble on a profit hauling and gathering various goods and minerals.

    I think passenger missions deserve a more in-depth system which doesn't always guarantee a profit and gives the player more control over the routes they take.

    To that end, I've come up with the following:

    1) Plan your own tours

    Commanders will have the ability to plan their own tour schedules, combining various sightseeing and planetary points of interest into a single tour package. You can add lay-overs at different stations as well as multiple points of embarking and debarking for guests who don't want to stay for the entire trip.

    2) Attractions

    To help flesh out the new tour system, we need more space and planetary points of interest so we need more attractions and tour elements. While you can still visit sightseeing points and planetary POIs, I think we should have new guided tour elements like flying around the outside of Megaships and communication stations. Additionally, you can purchase different shows and elements for your trips like watching a mining ship crack an asteroid or hiring mercenaries for a fake pirate attack. Planet side, you can let the passengers off the ship for things like SRV tours and prospecting, which will give you time to handle the third element, new modules.

    3) New Modules

    Unlike a lot of other builds, passenger ships don't really get a large variety of modules to choose from, so I think we need a few new modules to help keep passengers entertained and comfortable. Planned layovers and surface tours will put commander's on the clock to restock new entertainment modules.

    • Lounge: A room where passengers can gather and watch the planets go by or sit down to listen to a live performance. Increases passenger comfort and allows you to hire singers and musicians to boost entertainment.
    • Restaurant: Passengers aren't upset about being served airline food but a fresh meal would be better. Increases passenger comfort and allows you to hire chefs to further boost entertainment.
    • Bar: A thirsty passenger is an unhappy passenger, the bar can serve all kinds of beverages to keep your guests happy. Increases passenger comfort and provides additional comfort based on how much alcohol you have onboard.

    4) An example

    Here's an example of a planned tour:

    1. Embarking
    2. Three jumps to Sightseeing point
    3. Scan point
    4. Two jumps to tourism station
    5. Ten minute station lay-over (refuel and restock)
    6. Super cruise to megaship
    7. Fly-by megaship
    8. Four jumps home
    9. Disembarking

    TL;DR : Passenger missions need more variety, new elements, and new modules to make them fun.

    Do the ship engine sounds cut out for a few seconds immediately after dropping from supercruise for anyone else?

    I've noticed time and time again when dropping out of supercruise when approaching a station that the sound just stops. I boost, increase/decrease speed, etc. but there are no engine sounds for a few seconds. New bug?
