Whoever you are, 572,373 tons?! OMG did you even sleep?!

Congrats CMDR's that made the top 75%, and commiserations to those that didn't.

    Outstanding effort!

    o7

Edit: Just to let people know, as it is being asked a lot in the comments - the reward FSDs will be put in your storage at McDonald Settlement in a few days; you can't collect them yet.

572k tons aka driving CMDR Arkighor mad...

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 10:25 PM PST

    o7 Commanders!

This is not a post to brag, but to just give you an idea how our community made that crazy amount of 572.373 tons for the CG and slightly overshot the predictions.

    But first off all: Why?

That's also something most of our community people asked us. The answer is simple: We wanted to make sure to get the permissions to name one of the new stations. This was the main reason for the small core that we have and so we planned ahead a bit and it seems like we went a bit over the top there.

    Who?:

The Community of the Vault aka the Pr0gramm Squadron. Not everyone took part, but overall we were around 12-14 active players with a total of 5 FC's.

    What?:

Only 2 of our FCs were actively moving. We had one sitting near MacDonnald for over 2 weeks before the event even started, so we were sure we had a delivery point in the system for our madman CMDR Arkighor who did all the deliveries from his FC VSC Frigya to MacDonald.

We used 2 as battery backup, which we filled up during the first days for times when no one was around to actively refill our jumpers.

The Jumpers were switching places every time they were full/empty, while one was being emptied the other was being filled and then switched places. We found a cozy system around 150ly away that had 3 stations on 3 planets far away from the sun, so we were the only ones ever in that system and had an endless supply of TCUs.

Proof from the inara contribution: https://imgur.com/lA4OrGs

Overall we will probably not repeat this, since it took a lot of time and induced space madness to some of us. Arkighor was flying 16h days (in 723 shipments to MacDonald in a total of 105h) and the others were also not coming short in resupply drops.

I just want to thank the Elite community overall, since it was fun in the system chat and here on reddit, seeing people speculating about numbers and how the leaders currently do it. All the wonderful posts of new commanders and older ones taking part in this and the whole contribution by everyone trying to make the final T5 push.

Here is to another few more years of ED, many fixes that FDev throw at us and fun community events in the future.

EDIT: TehFocus, one of our Commanders helping out made a small video showing how the traffic looked like on the Frigya: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/s2yodr/tribute_to_the_fc_that_helped_deliver_over/

    Amazing experience with strangers

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 10:46 PM PST

So this CG gave lucrative rewards and sure this was an attraction for some commanders to come with fleet carriers from the bubble.

But some else happened. I drove my big boat there too and it was not a mundain experience of let us friends go and get more rewards. This happened:

There was a call to help Colonia. There were people going just to help, newbies and the experienced ones, all exited to be part of something big.

I advised each one to bring a full cargo hold stuffed to the brim and each one to take 1 to 2 loads from the carrier to get safely into 75%. But in the end for 20 people maybe 1 load would not be enough. We depleted Rohini since we had space after using tritium. Still not enough.

Then we lost a commander who didn't make docking back. I am on PS and he on PC, couldn't see each other. Reversing the jump was a good decision - we can't leave people behind and we brought spare Tritium. Everyone needs to get a fair chance.

People discussed all the way on the carrier channel, teaching one another the game. Newbies learnt.

Just before Colonia we lost another one and took the chance of having him blow up and searching the markets.

Arriving we discovered another commander was left behind. No stress, entertain others flying into the sun with confidence.

And in Colonia the magic happened: sharing and caring. No-one grabbed and ran. Some kept on buying at the markets and bring back so that everyone in the group of strangers had enough. We had enough even for the late comer Thursday morning.

Yes, this is just a game, but it was so easy and natural for this worldwide group on 3 platforms to work together, because they wanted to.

Players are also ordinary people this shows that the people of the world want to get along. Everyone wanted to be respectful and helpful and give one another a fair chance.

There was no in game reward for helping one another, actually they are your competitors if you think about the basics.

    Mmm.

    Politicians take note!

    Stop Anti Xeno

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 05:16 AM PST

I stumbled across this video that shows that Aegis is in fact a organization that is eager to devastate the Thargoids. I know it is very old, but think of the idea that Thargoids attacks are present due to our aggression first. Please, stop anti xeno attacks.

So this guy called Dorn wants escape pods?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 04:33 AM PST

Okay, so this engineer guy called Dorn in Colonia wants escape pods delivered before he will provide services. Isn't that somewhat reminescent of another character in Elite Dangerous called Dorne - is he any relation? Yes I know their names aren't quite spelt the same, but it seems somewhat coincidental. Could just be FDev recycling ideas though...

Almost to Tier 5!!! Awesome job CMDRs!

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 05:49 AM PST

7,702 jumps, 124,835ly traveled, and over 4 months is what it takes to get an unengineered 16.7ly FLD to Sag A* and Beagle Point. Got to see some beautiful sights along the way, and got a cool 3+ billion credits in exploration data.

    Best ship for Colonia run

    Posted: 13 Jan 2022 03:53 AM PST

I don't think I am ready to head out there yet, but I want the option available. What's the best ship to do it in?

Do I a) use a ASPX, Dolphin, DBX medium ship, stripped down as a runner, or

    b) Should I take a Conda which will actually be useful once I get there?
