Posted: 26 Oct 2019 10:53 PM PDT Or when you are landing and see that you bump into something going 40 meters per second, that's almost 100 mph! An Imperial Eagle doing 900m/s that's 2,000 mph... or... mach 2.6 Even going "slow" in this game can blow my mind :) [link] [comments]

Educators and Elite Dangerous and a Frontier rep. Posted: 27 Oct 2019 08:31 AM PDT I am a researcher and ed. psychologist...and have been experimenting with Elite Dangerous (Commander Dr. DJ aka Kiki Pitts) and determining if it could be used as a set of learning modules particularly for engaging at-risk learners. Preventing dropouts would be a great service to them and society and I see immersive VR as a possible solution to motivating kids to WANT to learn. The built-in incentive system in ED, along with many possible enjoyable learning avenues as well, make ED a very desirable platform. If anyone knows anyone at Frontier (or any other edutainment or gamification experts) who would speak with me, I would appreciate it. I have emailed them 3 times with no response. I went deep space exploring in an Imperial Clipper and I regret nothing. Posted: 27 Oct 2019 03:12 PM PDT https://i.imgur.com/sh0493P.jpg Context: I've only played ~600 hours over about two years, almost exclusively as an explorer and occasional tourist chauffeur. Longest trip I made was to the far 'north east' of the galaxy, Kyloopa region 80k round trip. Always in the AspX or DBX. Decided to buy an iClipper as I wanted to get into combat but wanted to be 'different' to all the Kraits, FDLs and Mambas. Soon realised I'm not a good fighter pilot and it would take a better pilot than me to be proficient in fighting in this thing. I did however love the premium feel of cockpit, the good handling and general feel of the ship. I decided for fun, I'll make an exploration ship! So I kitted her out for a trip into the black. Nothing major, I engineered the FSD as far as I could with Farseer, strapped on a guardian booster, some auto repair modules and a couple of extra fuel tanks. The fuel range was excellent, up to 500ly per scoop, the jump range, uhh not so much, 39ly per jump, but plenty if you're taking your time. Just a 40kly round trip this time. Headed 'south' west from the bubble, went out to the frontier of the Formidine rift, where the stars become sparse and the jumps further apart. https://i.imgur.com/WpWh52b.jpg Not much to report really, other than it was thoroughly comfortable trip and the clipper is a perfectly fine exploration vessel if you're happy to compromise on certain features. It handles much better than an Anaconda, the best fuel scoop available is insanely fast - even better than the AspX, and you can get around star systems quickly on your way through them. It also 'feels' less cramped in the cockpit. The cons are the jump range, not that range is super important with exploring, and also the cockpit view is a little more limited. Otherwise, very impressed! [link] [comments]
Did I miss something? Every system in my galaxy map are in "None" state. Posted: 27 Oct 2019 11:24 AM PDT Did Frontier reset the background sim again? I cannot find any system in any other state than "None". Or the galaxy map is bugged? [link] [comments]
