I finally made it home in Elite Dangerous after some grinding. So weird to be floating above my little corner of Earth in a game so vast. Watched the sunset and was reminded just how beautiful this game is.

Story of Tooth Pain and Elite.

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 11:33 AM PST

First of all I want to say this community is amazing and I want to share my story of Elite.

It was about 3 am in the morning and I was in bed couldn't sleep from tooth pain. All the links were purple by 3:40AM and I wanted to see what else Reddit has to offer. So as I lay in bed holding my mouth I open Apollo and press random subreddit hoping to find something to take my mind off the pain. After about 30 NSFW and random fandom subs I ended up here. I had never heard of this game or games of this genre before. I scrolled through about 15 posts and I couldn't make sense of what was going on. I saw plenty of big ships and beautiful planets and in that moment I realized that I had forgotten all about my tooth pain. There was only one thing to.. buy the game and go on my own adventure.

I ended up buying the game and the horizons DLC from humble and left it to download overnight. Woke up next morning at about 11am ready to play the game and damn! the key wont work since something about old humble keys and frontier not syncing up. Contacted support and got it fixed in a few hours but by this time it was time to go clock in and sell some burritos. I made a call requesting a day off, since the tooth pain hadn't really subsided but it was manageable and thanks to my great manager, I was given the day off.

I ended up finishing the tutorial and made a few runs back and forth to make enough money to buy the Cobra MkIII. I left the safety of the training area and plotted towards MAIA not understanding the fact that once I left the training area.. I would never be allowed to go back.

While I was making jumps I was reading the sub in the mean time for any hints or any ideas on what to do. I love open ended games for this reason, There always something to do.

I ran out of fuel a few times and thanks to the Fuel rats I was able to make it to MAIA by the end of the night.

All this was at the end of September and about 150 hours later I have a billion credits, fought many pirate and enjoyed supplying the stations when the crops had a low yield and when the Golconda crew needed a new home. I am ranked as a duke in the Empire and a Rear admiral in the federation. I've bought the Cutter and the Corvette and made a few Painite runs and have traded my way to Elite status. I'm also planning my trip out of the bubble in a few days.

I can say that I love this game more than any other game I've played this year. I came here to share my story and give thanks to the Fuel rats and the community for making this a great numbing experience.

Until next time commanders. Fly safe. 07

Also sorry for the bad formatting and for any grammar errors.

TLDR: Tooth pain, press random subreddit. Enjoy the subreddit. Buy game. Pain goes away when playing. Billionaire heading to dark space. 07 EDSM Profile

Attn Explorers: The 10.9 Million Credit System w/ 82 Thargoid Barnacles - Witch Head Sector LC-V C2-10

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 12:41 PM PST

    Greetings Commanders,

Just wanted to pass a word along here to fellow explorers looking to earn those credits as well as get familiar with the most barnacle system in the game (that I know of; if anyone knows a system with more than 82 barnacles in it, please share with me). Witch Head Sector LC-V C2-10, located on the edge of the Witch Head Nebula, has 82 barnacles located within the system itself. Scanning the system and surface probing it results in 553,378 credits when turned in to cartographics. The following is a layout of how many barnacles are on each planet:

    Witch Head Sector LC-V C2-10

    • A star:
      • Planet 2: 9 barnacles
      • Planet 3: 8 barnacles
      • Planet 4: 8 barnacles
      • Planet 5: 10 barnacles
      • Planet 6: 12 barnacles
    • B star:
      • Planet 1: 14 barnacles
      • Planet 2: 14 barnacles
      • Planet 3: 10 barnacles

Scanning each barnacle with your data link and composition scanner will yield 10,362,675 credits when turned in. This means the grand total this system is valued at is 10,916,053 credits.

For fellow Canonn science members, here is further information about the individual barnacles as I scanned them:

    • A star:
      • Planet 2:
        • Barnacle 1: 2 barnacles, spikes destroyed
        • Barnacle 2: 1 barnacle, spikes destroyed
        • Barnacle 3: 1 barnacle, spikes intact

did some research on elites origin and now realized what I am actually playing. This idea was born before I was and this baffles me just as much as the fact that this idea of reviving was actually made possible and then even in this high quality.

I wonder how many OG veterans are playing the new one now and how old they are. And how they must feel about it. I mean I got emotional with halo remastered but this is a whole different lvl not only in terms of graphical change.

Now put in perspective I will rebuy my cobra and treat it with the respect it deserves.

Someone please give me a clue what I'm doing wrong

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 03:00 PM PST

So I spent almost a month engineering my FDL to be what I thought would, at the very least, be a decent/very good PvP combat ship. But every cunt that interdicts me in Deciat just fucking makes mince meat of my shield in less than a minute while I do no fucking damage AT ALL. Oh and then 3 of his mates join in and it becomes a gang rape. I'm not spending 12 million in rebuys every time I want to test out my ship so what am I missing?

Obviously there's a disparity in skill but I refuse to believe that with all the time I have spent in on refining my ship it is completely incapable of 1v1 combat. Or at least lasting longer than a fucking minute.

Here's my Coriolis build, planning on swapping the normal shield generator for a hi-cap reinforced prismatic in two weeks time.
