    Windows PowerShell Script to show detail of time played from Journal files

    Someone on the EDCD Discord asked if there was any tool to show how much time they'd spent playing ED over time. Not a total of it, as available in the game, but how much per day/month/time period.

    So, I delved into Windows PowerShell (to ensure it was as easy as possible for anyone to run it) and came up with the script that's now in a shiny new github repo: https://github.com/Athanasius/ed-played-time

    Obviously you need all your Journal files, and this will only cover play time as far back as you have them (at best to ~September 2016 when Journals went live). Instructions are all in the README which shows towards the bottom of that page. Note the caveats. The TODO also still lists an item to attempt to improve one of those caveats.

    The other current TODO item is about the Google Sheets instructions. Personally I'd like to find an easy way to have it aggregate the played time per day, rather than being per session, no matter how many are in each day. I can see some people also wanting to "show the blanks", i.e. days when they didn't play. If anyone is a Google Sheets wizard I'll gladly accept an edit (preferably via github Pull Request from a fork, but I can hand edit it in if needs be) to improve on that part of the instructions.

    Oh, and I guess I could include some pointer to how to install PowerShell if any Windows user doesn't yet have it, but it's been so long since I ensured that on my system that I don't have the details to mind.

    Edit: My PowerShell is probably awful, I had over 50 tabs open in Firefox to look up the documentation by the time I was done. Be gentle ;) .

    Just got Elite Dangerous. I got the Deluxe Edition since it was 70% off. Never played it but I’m excited! Any tips or tricks that you can give me?
