    In all seriousness is it one of those communities where I need to play like a paranoiac and have 5 backup ships or just "fly and go and occasionally you'll get murdered"? Gameplay rules look about on par.

    You with your one beam laser and one seeker missile. Me in the pirate ship. You not replying to my comms saying I will not hurt you if you stop. You opening fire on me first. Me removing your shield and knocking out your drive, trying to take care not to destroy your hull too quickly with my engineered loadout. You repairing your drives, and then immediately opening fire again after they are repaired. Me hatchbreaking your ship and finding limpits. Limpits. You, continuing to fire on me as I sit still, wondering whether you want to die, before, finally, solemnly pulling the trigger.

    You are my first player kill.

    Now this is a mass relay.

    I was thinking on freighters earlier and wondering what the next big time and money sink could be. Forgive me if this specific fast travel idea comes up too often.

    An overview of the concept goals

    • One way travel to player built destination
    • Property with costs and benefits
    • Not a mass relay

    I imagined a giant terminal in the bubble that could utilize the same principles at work in neutron stars that allow us to boost jump range, but in a more extended and safe fashion. One would travel to the farcaster terminal and be shot out of a cosmic cannon, essentially, towards their destination in the black.

    Which brings me to part two, which would be the destination.

    For this part, I imagined the superpowers granting us a charter to own a fat asteroid in the black in exchange for the opening, at our expense, of a destination terminal attached to our new asteroid base. The destination terminal would act as a big safety net, or something, to catch the cmdr screaming through the galaxy at speed.

    I know we dont get along with the idea of stargates and whatnot, but I thought basically extending the range boost of a range boost might not be totally out of line.

    Plus I want an asteroid base.

    Think this is doable? Desirable?
