Posted: 31 Dec 2020 08:34 AM PST I rediscovered a super old video (Here) of a squadron of CMDRs fighting a Thargoid Interceptor (Cyclops Variant) outside of a station, and I noticed the recording CMDR getting a few fines for violating the station's no-fire zone. in Odyssey, maybe there could be an assignment similar to an encounter in deep space, where you can request the station's permission (requires cordial/friendly+ status with the faction owning the station) to defend or aid it if in need. In this mode, the no-fire zone can be violated for very specific things, like protecting against a thargoid attack or barrage of pirates, but they must be considered hostile to the station before engaging in combat. So, if a wanted ship attacks the station or a patrolling security ship, the target is flagged and the watching CMDR can attack. Attacking ships unwarranted or attacking the station revokes the ability to stand watch, and will induce a lethal response from the station. Furthermore, if the player has a manifest scanner, they can scan oncoming traffic around the station. And, if contraband is found, the player receives a bounty/bond around the same value of the fine that would be issued for the report. If the target is a CMDR, the CMDR will still get a fine. NPCs will likely not get fines considering they are not players and thus can't do missions to pay them off. If this is something worth your time, you'll probably also piss local pirates off, who will pursue you for a set time after your most recent watch as payback for reporting or "snitching" on one of their smugglers. So, with all this considered: What do you guys think? [link] [comments] | ||
