I have returned from Expedition Discovery, a trip that crossed the Galaxy and saw 28 different major sights. Trip took 1 month. In total, I made over 500,000,000 credits, discovered 57 Neutron Stars, and traveled a combined 187,702 Ly. Here's my favorite screenshots

Any game mechanic that requires "relogging" is broken or poorly implemented.

    Posted: 24 Feb 2021 08:52 AM PST

This is one of those games that's really great getting into at the start, but routinely when looking up instructions more how to get more advanced equipment (be it engineering or Guardian gear) you'll see the phrase "relog."

It's gotten to the point where I'll look at a guide, Ctrl + F "relog," and if I see it I know I'm just not going to experience that part of the game unless I REALLY want to. That kind of grinding is toxic for a game's health. It is mind-numbing, discourages creativity, discourages exploration, and perhaps worst of all it contributes significantly to player burnout. Gathering guardian materials and finding engineering materials is something that should either have genuinely interesting mechanics tied to acquiring them, OR it should be something that can be accomplished in the ordinary flow of gameplay.

This could be accomplished in many ways, but to give you a few examples: material drops from combat could be radically increased (both in amount and type, so greater quantities of a wider variety of materials could be found by simply playing the game). Another would be substantially increasing material payouts for missions, to the point where it's more reasonable try to max out your materials by stacking missions for material rewards RATHER than flying to the same remote location, doing something boring and grindy, then logging out and doing it DOZENS more times. No one enjoys that, and it transforms a beautiful game into a generic grindfest with entirely unengaging mechanics.

I could go on, but I'd rather not rant too much. What are your thoughts on this? How would you fix this problem? What can FDev do to show they're at least aware that this is one of the game's main issues?

I love the Stargazer Base ... Blue nebula on one side, red ones on the other ... Just beautiful. Too bad it doesn't have a shipyard. I'd totally make it my home base.

Do you guys think we'll be able to ride buses, trains etc in Odyssey? Hopefully they'll look better too lol but i personally like chilling out sometimes and taking a ride whenever games have something like that. Also bathrooms confirmed for whoever missed stream.

What would you think of ship delivery missions?

    Posted: 24 Feb 2021 01:46 AM PST

This is just hypothetical, but after paying to have my ship brought to me I was thinking about how fun it would be to be the delivery guy. Imagine being tasked with delivering an NPC's ship from point A to point B, but maybe this ship is wanted, or has enemies after it, or is carrying some mysterious cargo. You have to take out the bad guys while fighting with the unfamiliar controls of this stranger's ship. Maybe the fire groups are locked in to their preference and you have to deal with it. Also, Frontier could place their livery items in the cockpit to make people want to buy them.
