This community needs to stop treating Solo sessions like they're for baby eating pedophiles.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 09:44 AM PDT

I've heard so many people bitch about other players getting in the way/being aggressive during the alpha stuff. I have this discussion every day with a private Discord group. Every time I say, there and other places, "just go to Solo", and people act like I suggested sacrificing their firstborn.

Mining or doing pve or doing ANYTHING in Solo isn't "cheating", it isn't "depriving yourself of an experience", it's just as valid as public. You aren't a criminal or a baby or a scrub for switching to Solo to get shit done. If other players are making your life harder, then remove that element. It's not hard.

    Edit:ambiguous phrasing.

They would be so honored to be allowed to transport my ship so they would pay me? Or are they going on a mining trip with it?

You know what E:D needs. Target next unscanned. Instead of every NPC being ■, once scanned change them to ▣

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 05:55 AM PDT

Hate sitting in a RES, targetting ships looking for an unscanned ship that might have a warrant, and constantly targetting ships I've already scanned because there is no visual aid to say its already scanned.

Instead of every NPC being ■, once scanned change them to ▣ so I can visually see who is unscanned without the hassle of going into the contacts panel.

For those who say that the Vulture doesn’t make any sense for a drop ship, it actually really does.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 09:52 AM PDT

True the Federal Dropship would make more sense, but due to the size of it, it's more like a C-130 for mass troop deployments. The Vulture makes way more sense for these combat zones, you have a small ship with good maneuverability and has a lot of offensive power. It can jump in, drop troops, provide fire support, and then get out just as fast, try doing that with the Federal brick.

What do you think of the Odyssey Alpha's Outfitting UI changes?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 10:55 AM PDT

User Ozric posted the following in the official feedback thread, and I've gotta agree:

    Outfitting...

I think that someone from the team really could do with explaining the thinking behind these changes to us. What is the use of the Module Shop? It serves exactly the same purpose as the Loadout. You can't use it to buy modules straight into your storage, you can only use it to buy modules and then put them into slots on you ship, if it has slots that module can fit in.

    Why? It serves no purpose.

The main outfitting screen itself is I'm again afraid to say, really poor. There seems to be a desire to show everything on new popup windows, or separate pages. If you want to change you Power Plant, then you click on it, which opens a popup window, so you click to browse the shop, which opens a new window, you click the Power Plant, which opens a new window, you click the one you want to look at, which opens a new pop up. If you change your mind you now have to click back three times to get to the Core Internals page. It is unnecessary, and make extra work for the players. Outfitting a ship is laborious as it is, it does not need extra steps. Why also get rid of numbers for the size of the module, and replace it with dots? Again it is more confusing. The sorting options have been removed as well.

But the thing that baffles me the most, and in my humble opinion the thing that has to change, is the ship specs.

Previously you could see how each module that you were going to select affected you ship, easily and neatly. Now, for some reason, this information has been split over 4 screens. 4? So now, for example, Jump Range and Mass are no longer able to be seen at the same time?! Probably the two most important things to want to see together, and they have been split onto different pages.

As seen in this YouTube video Ozric embedded in their post at this point

I'm sorry I really don't understand. It makes no sense. I always aim to be constructive when I criticise something and make a suggestion to how I see it could work better, but the only conclusion I have for these is that they should be put back the way they were before. It feels like the UI redesign has been done by people who don't know how the base game is used.

My biggest complaint by far is the fact that they've split up essential information across multiple pages. I don't much care if they keep the new aesthetic, but any new layout should absolutely not be worse than the old/current one at conveying important information.
