Petition to extend the Colonia Bridge Project which ended after 2 days with only 6500 contributors so all CMDRs can contribute and get the 6A+ FSD to further deep space exploration

Change.org Petition: Extend the Colonia Bridge Project so CMDRs with families and jobs can get 6As and explore

Dear Colonia / Alcor Bridge Construction Event Planners at Brewer Corporation and Frontier Development:

The Colonia Bridge Project is a game changer for exploration of the galaxy that should be extended to include more than the fraction of CMDRs who had time to jump into it and complete it before anyone else had a chance. Many CMDRs were not able to participate in the event and contribute due to life commitments given the record short 2 days the event lasted. Only 6007 on the Alcor side and 481 on the Colonia side got to participate, leaving the vast majority of Elite's CMDRs getting into the pilot's chair for the weekend out of a crucial event that is already closed.

Perhaps events to build critical infrastructure and provide critical modules should not terminate early like this to make them more accessible in the future. Some people can only fit deep space pilot duties on certain days of the week due to other responsibilities planet-side. Many people trekked to Colonia after the Alcor side ended unexpectedly quickly only for the Colonia side to end too before they got there.

Many CMDRs are ready willing and able to contribute to building more Colonia bridge resources by extending for the rest of the week or doing a phase 3 upgrade to the bridge next week. We can do our part and make Colonia that much more connected to the bubble in exchange for those 6A drives we need to make the journey along the route faster and to encourage more of us to explore farther than we've ever been able to reach into the stars.

It seems the event goal was a miscalculation in underestimating the interest and demand targets and it would be a good idea to extend it so that the majority of pilots aren't left out in the cold without a way to acquire the 6A for months or make their mark on the Colonia bridge project.

The 6A 3A and 4A enable new classes of exploration builds and will renew interest in 90+ LY Jumpacondas to reach previously unreachable star systems on the fringes of the galaxy. This is something that can spark new exploration expeditions and get more CMDRs interested in building deep space exploration ships and skills.

You've extended events before when the interest spiked beyond what you expected and you may be out for the weekend when this one transpired but now is the time to make this quality of life improvement available to as many CMDRs as possible to bring the galaxy that much closer together.

07 from CMDR IXXX and the many other CMDRs eager to do our part in this great galaxy of possibilities.

Spread the word on the petition:

Colonia Bridge Alcor-side deliveries completed in record time

    Posted: 06 Nov 2021 02:17 AM PDT

Barely lasted two days lol. 40,000 trips by 6,000 people.

    18,442 cutter trips, and 11,770 type 9 trips :D

Congrats to everyone who hauled more than 2,210 tons you're getting some new FSDs.

Congrats to the top 10 poopsockers on their new megaship naming rights! :D

I am stuck and willing to pay 100k per tritium half a bil up for grabs

    Posted: 06 Nov 2021 09:27 AM PDT

My carrier is stuck at HD 105341 and I don't have enough fuel to jump any where I'm buying 5000 tritium for 100,000 per unit so there is half a bil up for grabs in total if anyone is interested

    Carrier name chimaera

Why are CGs structured this way?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2021 10:30 AM PDT

Loaded up 7k Thermal Cooling Units on my carrier last night with 38% progress on the Alcor CG, went to bed ready to turn everything in come morning. Woke up this morning and the event's already over.

FDev, can you revisit how rewards are earned here? It feels really bad to be denied participation because a handful of players sprinted to the finish while I was sleeping. Keeping the ability to contribute past 100% doesn't penalize anyone for playing.

    Congratulations on completing the CG

    Posted: 06 Nov 2021 02:22 AM PDT

Per Inara, everyone who dropped at least 2,209 tons of cargo at MacDonald Settlement will receive double-engineered 3A, 4A, and 6A frame-shift drives, significantly increasing maximum jump distance for a variety of new ships (including the Anaconda). I suspect these drives will eventually be made available at human tech brokers as the 5A was before them, but not for the time being.

I'm hoping that the speed and enthusiasm with which the community pounced on this goal will signal interest in the exploration game loop to FDev and earn it a little love in the near future. I myself am planning a tandem exploration expedition with a friend as soon as I finish grinding some suits together and after the multi-purpose limpet controller drops in update 9.

o7 to everyone who took part in the latest CG. If you're in the Colonia region you have perhaps as much as half a day left to take part and still get the rewards.

EDIT: The Buur Pit shared a spreadsheet listing updated max ranges for every ship with these FSDs and guardian boosters installed. There is an error in the way the spreadsheet computes optimal mass; looks like the actual optimal mass (sans Mass Manager/Deep Charge experimental) for a 3A will be 255, 4A will be 892.5, and 6A will be 3060.

    Don‘t drink and drive

So yesterday evening I figured I could give the community goal a try. I saw that overall progress was pretty advanced. I still hopped into my shiny cutter and managed to deliver 792 tonnes of cargo twice.

Unfortunately after that I got another 792 tonnes but delivered the cargo too fast and splattered my poor shieldless cutter all over Macdonalds Settlement. Stubborn as I am I paid 40 mill rebuy and got another 792 tonnes. Which upon arrival at Macdonalds I managed again to lose in a spectacular explosion. After another 40 million rebuy I called it a night.

Just to read now that the CG is over and I missed the 75% line.

Long story short, can't recommend flying while tipsy. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Will the new FSDs be in the tech broker?

    Posted: 06 Nov 2021 10:09 AM PDT

So I started doing the CG on Friday but I sadly didn't get to the top 75%. I was wondering if Frontier will put the new FSDs in the tech brokers someday?
