Is it easy to maintain a carrier if you don't play a lot? Easy!

    o7 Commanders.

Once you have bought a carrier in the minimum configuration (5 billion), do you need from 5 to 8 million per week to maintain it? Is it a lot or a little? Few.

All you need is a truck that will allow you to trade Agronomic Treatment. You jump to the system where you buy cargo at 3-4-5k per ton. Fill for example 5-6 thousand tons of cargo. Then you jump to the system where you can sell it for 28-29k per ton. And unload your carrier. I use a cutter without a shield, which allows me to transport 784 tons at a time. Depending on the relative position of the base and the carrier, each loading or unloading operation will take up to 10 minutes. As it is right, you will even spend less time, it is doubtful that more time.

The price gap for Agronomic Treatment is generally 3k buy and 31k sell, but in this case you will compete with other carriers. Option 5k-29k is generally trouble-free.

    Profit per all operation - (29000-5000)*5000= 120,000,000.

That's enough to pay 8 million for a carrier for 15 weeks. Almost 4 months.

The time you spend on the operation if you use the cutter without a shield is one evening. 15 minutes to jump to the system, an hour and a half to load, 15 minutes to jump to the system where you will sell and an hour and a half to unload. That's all - for 15 weeks you are free to do whatever you want.

Spend a weekend on this and you can forget about carrier money for a year.

Just finished a week of optimisation/troubleshooting and finally got some acceptable FPS in Odyssey. Thought I’d offer my findings in hope this helps others.

    Posted: 18 Jan 2022 02:54 AM PST

Just want to thank my fellow redditors for helping to get my Odyssey game looking and running to a level I'm pleased with.

Spent a week running tests/benchmarks, scrolling through guides and youtube vids and certainly wasn't as easy a transition from Horizons to Odyssey as I would have liked, but well worth it. Most of my troubles were around getting rid of those horrible jaggies without having supersampling at a high number (ran 1.75x in Horizons which sorted most of the worst jaggies but I couldn't get away with this in Odyssey).

Thought I'd share what tweaks I did that made the biggest difference:

    • Deleting the AppData>Option>Graphics folder tweak
    • Activating GPU scheduling in win10
    • Threading Optimisation set to 'on' instead of 'auto' in Nvidia Control Panel
    • Turning on PBO on my Ryzen 3700x
    • Shadow settings reduced from Ultra to Medium
    • Lowered model draw distance to 50%
    • Ambient Occlusion reduced from highest setting to medium (no noticeable visual difference for me)
    • Reducing almost all my settings from Ultra to High
    • Supersampling at 1.25x was highest I could go but helped mitigate the jaggies issue)
    • Change from SMAA to FXAA (this actually helped reduce my jaggies)
    • Reduce on-foot FOV
    • FPS cap to 80 (after testing/benchmarking was finished to help reduce stuttering)

    Results

    On-Foot tutorial

    • 70-75fps avg on approach to settlement front gate
    • 80-90fps avg walking around tutorial settlement
    • 70-80fps avg inside structures
    • 30-50fps avg during the alarm and those fires

    On-Foot in general

    • 70-80fps avg walking around a coriolis station lobby
    • 80-90fps avg walk around ship in the dock
    • 90-120fps avg walking around an ice planet next to landed ship

    In space

    • 180fps and above (obviously no issues there!)

    Specs:

    • Ryzen 3700x (PBO on)
    • RTX 2080ti (heavily OC'd)
    • 16GB DDR4 RAM xmp'd at 3600mhz CL16
    • Game running on SSD
    • 3440x1440 on 100hz VA monitor
    • G-Sync on

Hope this helps anyone else having trouble finding that holy grail of the fps to visual fidelity balance, whilst also tackling the anti-aliasing issues!

Looking forward to probably never walking around stations or planets and just flying around in space like I did in Horizons! 😊

Highlights from my trip to Colonia

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 08:26 PM PST

Meet the newest ship to my fleet. It's set up for materials gathering and not quite ready yet. The most important that's missing is a name, I'm torn between "The Grey Ghost" and "Graf Zeppelin".

Best set up for hard points on Federal Gunship? PVE exclusively, needs to work for both bounty hunting and CZs.

    Posted: 18 Jan 2022 12:21 AM PST

Essentially the title. I'm considering either all Multicannons, or all MC with Cannons on the size 3 and size 1 slots to try and shred larger ships.

Anyone up for fed grind? Currently there’s a burning station down on Evangelis. And I don’t know if anyone knows but there’s a GAME BREAKING STACKABLE TRADING MISSIONS out there. And I have a fleet carrier and will help you out!

    Posted: 17 Jan 2022 11:33 PM PST

You can get that rank in no time boi.

Let me elaborate, so this stackable mission asks you to get a range of items like robotics and power generator. Which if you do it the normal way could take a little bit of a time, but still the fastest method out of any methods in the bubble. BUT, imagine with the help of a fleet carrier which been hoarded by those items, 26ls away…. Yup! 20 stacked up missions 26ls away with a minimum of +++ rep per mission.

FC Warmonger in Evangelis guys! Meet you there!
